The baptismal records for a group of children baptized at Bampton between 1730 and 1739 (which includes John SEARY 1735) gives their father's name as Wm. Two possible candidates are known. Wm. SEARY, the son of Edmund, baptised 28th March 1712 at Bampton, or Wm. SEARRY, the son of Wm., baptised on 19th March 1695 at Bampton. Nothing has been found that specifically links the children with either father.

It is assumed here that the children were fathered by William SEARRY 1695. He would have been aged 35 at the birth of the first child whereas William 1712 would have been only 18. However it should be noted that this may prove to be incorrect, or other candidates discovered.
