MICHELL HAWKINS & LETTIS PARSELOWE

Michell was a miller at Stanford, having inherited two mills from his father. On Michell's death the mills passed to his eldest son Henry. Certain possessions were bequeathed to his son John, including a house in Hoursecraft Street. John died without issue, and under the provisions of the will these posessions also passed to Henry.

Michell had connections with Little Coxwell. He and his father, William, were appointed overseers [executors] in the will of Michaell Hallidaye of Little Coxwell dated 13 November 1600. William and Michell were recorded as "my very loving friends".

Michaell Hallidaye held land in the area and was suficiently well off to employ at least one servant (who is mentioned in the will).

His name is recorded as Michell in the Stanford baptismal parish records, but his name also appears as Mychell, Michaell and Michael. His surname is spelled variously as HAWKINES, HAWKNES, and HAWKINGES.
